SkyZero Heading to VFS Electric Aviation Symposium 2025
This weekend, the SkyZero team will be in Oshkosh for the 19th Annual Electric Aircraft Symposium hosted by the Vertical Flight Society. As the world's longest-running conference on electric aviation, this event brings together the technical leaders who are shaping the future of flight.
Why We're Excited
From our research showing that electrified aviation has reached 70 flights per day—nearly doubling in the first half of 2025—to our coverage of milestones like Joby's testing operations in Dubai and Beta's passenger flight from the Hamptons to JFK, we've witnessed this industry accelerating at an unprecedented pace.
The symposium features 12 in-depth sessions covering eVTOL, eSTOL, eCTOL aircraft, propulsion systems (battery-electric, hybrid-electric, hydrogen-electric), certification, and real-world applications. We're particularly looking forward to connecting with teams from companies like Joby Aviation, H55, and MagniX, as well as the broader community of electric aviation pioneers.
The Data Story
Our tracking shows Pipistrel Electros alone have prevented hundreds of tons of CO2 emissions as they displace conventional aircraft in pilot training, with flight activity accelerating and poised to prevent even more. We've documented everything from Beta flying their aircraft to the Paris airshow to H55's Bristell Energic tours across the United States. And these aren't just certification flights or training missions anymore - we're seeing the beginnings of genuine commercial applications beyond pilot training soon. Beta is once again flying their Alia aircraft to Oshkosh, demonstrating how these practical capabilities are becoming routine.
Looking Ahead
Held right before EAA AirVenture, this symposium represents the perfect convergence of experimental and commercial electric aviation.
For those of us who believe electrified aviation is at its "Tesla Roadster moment"—past proof of concept but not yet mass adoption—this symposium offers insights into what's coming next.
